How to Prepare Your Rock Hill Home for Drywall Work

Most drywall projects go smoothly. The few that hit snags almost always trace back to prep — both contractor prep (our job) and homeowner prep (yours). After a decade running drywall projects in York County homes, here is the practical checklist we send every client the week before the crew arrives.

Clear the work area

Clear the project rooms entirely if possible, or move all furniture and belongings to the center of the room and cover them. We bring drop cloths and plastic, but starting with cleared space is faster, safer, and reduces the risk of accidental damage.

Identify a clear access path

Material delivery, daily crew entry and exit, and debris removal all need a clear path from the closest exterior door to the work area. Move anything fragile or precious off that path. If you have a preferred path, tell us at the pre-job walk-through.

Plan for HVAC and air filtration

Replace your HVAC filter the day before we start. We mask vents in the immediate work area. Replace the filter again at project end. If you have allergies or respiratory sensitivities, tell us so we can adjust containment.

Pet and child considerations

Loud equipment, open material, dust. Most pets do better boarded or in a closed undisturbed room during work hours. Small children should be kept clear. We can work around almost any schedule — if you need us to start an hour later for school drop-off, just say so.

Electrical and water access

We need one or two 120-volt outlets near the work area and a water source for clean-up. If your home has electrical or plumbing oddities (a circuit that trips, a shutoff that must stay on), point them out at the pre-job walk-through.

Communicate constraints

Work-from-home video calls, baby naps, sensitive pets — tell us. We schedule sand days (the loudest part) around your constraints whenever possible.

What we handle for you

Material delivery and load-in, drop cloths and plastic, zip-wall containment, HEPA sanders, daily clean-up, final deep clean, debris removal, final walk-through. You do not provide tools, materials, supplies, or transportation.
